HOLIDAY ON THE PRAIRIE
Part of Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association's 12 FREE days of Christmas
Sat., December 19, 10am–4pm, FREE admission
  • Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides: 11am-3pm, $5 per person
  • Victorian-era Santa Claus: 10am-12:30pm; 1:30-4pm
  • Gingerbread Lady Storytelling: 10am-12pm; 12:30-4pm
  • Christmas carol sing-alongs & theater performances: 11am, 12, 2 & 3pm
  • 1859 Balloon Voyages (weather permitting): $15 non-mbr; $12 mbr
  • Book signing with Dick Wolfsie, Indiana Curiosities: 12-2pm

The sights and sounds of holidays past come to life for the whole family as you stroll indoors through a gingerbread wonderland! Visit with a Victorian-era Santa Claus, meet the Gingerbread Man, sit fireside for storytelling with the Gingerbread Lady, craft a holiday decoration to take home, sing holiday carols, create a holiday card for our troops overseas and explore Discovery Station.

Bundle up and take a horse drawn wagon ride and see the beauty of Conner Prairie. Visit 1836 Prairietown where you can help residents prepare for the holidays ahead and take care of winter tasks, the 19th-century way. If weather permits, take a flight in the 1859 Balloon Voyage (additional fee). Then, warm up with a cup of hot cocoa from Cafe on the Common.

Meet Indiana author and WISH-TV's Daybreak personality Dick Wolfsie from 12-2pm when he signs his new book, Indiana Curiosities, now in its third printing. Books will be available for purchase ($15.95) at the Conner Prairie Store.

Food will be available for purchase indoors at The Overlook from 11am-4pm. Limited menu includes hot dogs, PB&J, cookies, chips, pie, hot cocoa and cold refreshments.

Stroll through a wonderland of remarkable gingerbread creations!

CONNER PRAIRIE BY CANDLELIGHT
Dec. 4 & 5, 11 & 12, 18 & 19; 5–8pm

Journey back to December 24, 1836 where Prairietown residents are preparing for the holidays on this family-friendly, 60-minute guided tour. Add a holiday buffet to your tour and a balloon flight, weather permitting.

BILL HIXSON’S HOLIDAY DESIGNS SALE
Sat., December 5, 10am–5pm

Meet Bill Hixson, better known as “Mr. Christmas,” and be dazzled by his mouth-blown glass ornaments from Europe. Purchase your favorites, and hear his stories of decorating the White House annually for the holidays.

Recommended for ages 10–adult

Experience an intimate, authentic 19th-century dinner served by costumed hosts in the Conner House, central Indiana’s first brick home. Help your hosts with dinner preparation.
