Knife and Axe Making
Feel the heat from the forge as you pound out red-hot iron. Instructors Hershel House and Melvin Lytton will teach the intricacies of crafting knives and small axes (tools required).
Kit Assembly
Assemble a Jim Chambers rifle or pistol kit. Instructors Jim Chambers and John Weston will teach assembly and finishing techniques. Please contact Jim Chambers Flintlocks, Ltd. at 828.667.8361 or Jim Klein at 269.729.4407 by June 15 to order kits (tools required).
Stock Carving and Patch Box Construction
Learn traditional carving skills such as tool sharpening, pattern layout and proper tool use with instructor Jim Klein. Then embellish your longrifle and make a custom patch box. Practice stock available for purchase at the workshop.
$95 materials fee (tools required)
Engraving
Perfect the art of metal engraving using practice pieces then apply your skills to engraving your own gun. Instructor John Schippers will teach basic design, tool selection and sharpening techniques (tools required).
