Ice-Cream Making, Watermelon Seed Spitting Contests, Sack Races and BBQ…It’s a Red, White and Blue Glorious Fourth at Conner Prairie!

6/19/2008
July 4 – 6, 2008

It’s a time honored tradition for families in central Indiana – in celebration of our nation’s freedom, Conner Prairie will celebrate the Glorious Fourth 19th-century-style. Residents of Conner Prairie’s historic areas and guests will celebrate our nation’s birth with patriotic crafts, contests, live period music and so much more!

How far can you spit a watermelon seed? Do you know the 1886 rules of baseball? Visitors to Glorious Fourth can take part in these activities, as well as participate in the singing of the Star Spangled Banner, the militia muster in Prairietown, croquet games and farmhand chores in Liberty Corner. Also, help residents with patriotic decorations and listen to speeches about liberty and freedom. Conner Prairie’s grounds will be buzzing with fun and special programs for the entire family.

Make sure to visit on an empty stomach! Enjoy hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, strawberry shortcake, lemon shake-ups and roasted corn, for purchase, cookout style.

Free with general admission. Hours are July 4 and 5, 10am-5pm and July 6, 11am-5pm. Conner Prairie will be offering a military discount, July 4 - 6 —admission is free for military personnel and 50 percent off for immediate family members.
