The Headless Horseman, presented by Duke Energy, rides again at Conner Prairie, October 17-19, 22-26 and 29-30! Evenings beginning at 6:30 pm during the month of October, Conner Prairie’s grounds will be transformed into an eerie landscape – full of spooky tales, games and traditions that invite families into a world of ghoulishly delightful fun.
Enjoy the crisp autumn air and treat yourself to a caramel apple or apple cider slushie from The Apple Store. Be a brave soul and take a hayride through the historic areas. Keep your eyes peeled for the Headless Horseman, who is sure to make an appearance! Also, see The City Center Children’s Theatre, a professional theatre group for from Carmel, perform a family-friendly version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow weeknights at 7, 8 and 9 pm and Fri. and Sat., at 7, 8, 9 and 10 pm.
Headless Horseman is an annual event, now in its 25th year, which takes place over 10 evenings and has proven to be one of the central Indiana’s favorite autumn events. Each year, families wait for dusk to take part in a moonlit haunted hayride. Your body will tingle and your mind will run wild as you hitch a ride on the haunted hay wagon. But beware…the Headless Horseman is on the prowl and can smell your fear! Guests never know when their tranquil ride through Conner Prairie's woods and historic areas will be interrupted by the Headless Horseman. If they can just make it to the bridge, they’ll be safe!
But there's more to Headless Horseman than the haunted hayride! Each evening, families can experience activities that are frightfully fun for all ages. Enjoy children’s crafts and storytelling, sing along with live music with Bill Bailey, kick up your heels at the Country Hoe-Down or sit back and enjoy the music. Also, for the first time, event visitors and Headless Horseman fans can stop by Conner Prairie’s Museum Shop and purchase a one-of-a-kind, collectible Headless Horseman doll.
Returning are family favorites such as the puppet show with Dan Raynor's marionettes performing The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the Disney movie The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad --perfect for the little ones!
After all the excitement, you’ll need to refuel with our treats at Conner Prairie’s concession stand, Ichabod’s, and our other yummy food vendors, where you will find: Chick-fil-A, Donatos Pizza, BBQ pork, chili, kettle corn, corn dogs and opportunities to make s’mores, all available for purchase.
Admission to an evening of good old-fashioned, hair-raising fun for Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays is $7 in advance from participating Marsh Supermarkets or $9 at the gate, and free for Conner Prairie Basic Members; Fridays and Saturdays are $11 in advance and $13 at the gate, admission is free every night for Conner Prairie Plus Members.
The public may call (317) 776-6006 or (800) 966-1836 for information.
