Conner Prairie continued its trailblazing course in 2007 with a year of significant achievement, recognition and growth—as announced at their December 12, 2007 Annual Meeting. Several key highlights represent the year’s accomplishments:
- Projected to finish fiscal year solidly in the black
- Overall admissions (through October) up 11%
- General admissions (through November) up 24% (includes increases of 166% for Civil War Days, 34% for Indiana Festival, 22% for Country Fair)
- Membership revenues (through November) up 13% over 2006
- Contributions and sponsorships (through November) up 39% over 2006
- New guest experiences introduced:
- Discovery Station, indoor play and learning area for young guests
- Animal Encounters, daily hands-on experiences with emphasis on baby animals
- Conner Prairie Player performances, family-oriented original skits, puppet shows
- National & local recognition:
- Silver Muse Award from American Association of Museums for groundbreaking Opening Doors training DVD/CD-ROM which has been distributed to more than 1,000 institutions in all 50 states and over a dozen countries
- BKD Indiana Excellence Award in the Not-for-Profit & Government category for business excellence
- Identified by program producer of National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC, as a national model for guest learning
Conner Prairie welcomes the following 2008 officers and members to the Conner Prairie Museum and Foundation boards, which were announced at the museum’s Annual Meeting held Wednesday, December 12.
