What will my group do at Conner Prairie?
Be ready for hands-on fun and excitement as you visit four unique historic areas. Costumed residents will invite you to participate in activities and engage in conversations with your group. Staff wearing blue Conner Prairie shirts will help you make connections between past and present, and be able answer your modern day questions.
NEW! 1859 Balloon Voyage
Discover one of the earliest chapters of aviation history at Conner Prairie’s newest historic experience, 1859 Balloon Voyage. Experiment with the science and technology of ballooning, then soar 350 feet above the landscape in a tethered, helium-filled balloon and see the world like John Wise did!
1886 Liberty Corner
Help the Zimmermans around the farm and learn about life in 1886 Indiana. Each chore is a great way to work as a team to get a project done! Before you leave, stop in for a lesson at the local school, run the bases on the historic baseball field and try fun pioneer games!
1836 Prairietown
Discover what life was like in 1836 Indiana when you visit Prairietown, a pioneer village bustling with activity. Jump in and help with chores, get up close to the animals and feel the heat from the blacksmith’s forge! Try your hand at pioneer games or visit with the town folk and trade stories.
Lenape Indian Camp
Dance to the sound of the water drum and gourd rattle in Conner Prairie's earliest historic area. Experience the lives of the Lenape, or Delaware, Indians and strike a deal with the fur traders.
William Conner Homestead
Peek into William Conner’s world when you visit his homestead, a treasured piece of Indiana history. Then, get up close to the baby animals in the Animal Encounters Barn. You can groom and play with babies like lambs, chicks, kids and calves.

Will I need a tour guide?
Your visit is self-guided. Upon your arrival, we will supply you with maps to help you select which areas to visit and how long to spend in each area. Conner Prairie staff, located throughout the Welcome Center and historic areas, are available if you have questions or need assistance.
How long should I allow for my group visit?
Allow at least three hours for your visit, although there is plenty to do if you stay longer. If you are having lunch, add 30 minutes extra. Groups with very young children may want to spend less time.
How many adults should I bring with my youth group?
For ages 7–12, we recommend at least one adult for every ten children; for ages 2–6, at least one adult for every five children.
What options are there for lunch?
- Pre-order a meal served in a souvenir haversack for $5.50/person.
- Choose from a ham, turkey or cheese sandwich. All sandwiches are served with American cheese on white bread with chips, cookie and fruit-flavored drink or bottled water. Orders must be placed and guaranteed at least five business days prior to your visit. A 50% non-refundable deposit is due five business days prior to your visit.
- Enjoy lunch on your own at The Overlook Room.
- Bring a sack lunch and picnic under the big shade trees adjacent to the parking area or at the picnic area near the Welcome Center entrance. You can easily re-enter from these areas.
Should my group bring extra money for purchases?
The Conner Prairie Store has many kid-friendly items, including candy, toys, books, games and small souvenirs.

Someone in my group has special needs—what should I expect?
Conner Prairie strives to provide a fun and educational experience for guests of all abilities. Most, but not all, of the historic buildings are accessible by wheelchair. The Accessibility Map provides details. Wheelchairs are available at the Ticket Desk at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis, and limited tram service is available. Please notify us before you come if your group has anyone with special needs.

When and how do I pay?
Full payment for admission and meal balance, if applicable, can be made in advance or on the day of your visit. Payment in one transaction by check, credit card or cash is required.
Arrival & Check In
Where do I unload and park when I get to Conner Prairie?
If arriving by bus, ask the driver to pull the bus directly in front of the Welcome Center entrance to unload before parking in the main parking lot.
If arriving in cars or vans, free parking is available in front of the Welcome Center. Children can be dropped off at the entrance before parking if accompanied by an adult.
Where do I check in?
Send one adult leader directly to the Welcome Center to check in with the group greeter or the Ticket Desk to make final payment. Your leader should be prepared with an exact count of youth and of adults. The leader will be given admission stickers for everyone to wear during your visit, along with maps for the adults. You will take your group through the Welcome Center exhibits and outdoors to the historic areas.
