Barn Dance

Join Conner Prairie's costumed interpreters and musicians for a 19th-century-style party. Learn the Virginia reel and other period dances from costumed interpreters who dance to the beat of the band or enjoy the dance with just a fiddler/caller. Deluxe package includes four-piece band, fiddler/caller and six costumed interpreters/dancers. Traditional package includes fiddler/caller only.

Deluxe Package: 1,200 for three hours
Traditional Package: 600 for three hours
Additional costumed interpreter/dancer: 150 each

Sunset Stroll

Stroll through 1836 Prairietown village as costumed interpreters welcome you into their homes. Visit the Golden Eagle Inn, Dr. Campbell’s home, schoolhouse and Whitaker’s Store. This program may be scheduled after 6 pm.

Evening at the Golden Eagle Inn

The Tap Room is the place to be at our 1836 Inn. Join some of the costumed locals as they teach you games such as Quoits, Nine Men's Morris and Nine Pins. Catch up on all the latest news from Indianapolis and beyond. Join in the chorus of a period drinking song. There might even still be chores to do out in the barn. Period food, drink and souvenir handcrafted pottery mug for each guest available at additional cost. Maximum 20 guests.

Fall Creek Massacre Trial

Be a part of history as you help decide the fate of James Hudson, accused in the murder of Seneca Indians in 1824. Join the jury and decide his fate based on the available evidence.

19th-Century Survivor

Does your team have what it takes to survive the 19th century? Are you a match for some of the physical and mental challenges our ancestors lived to tell about? Find out as you divide into teams and play Survivor, Conner Prairie-style! Possible activities include shelling enough ears of corn to fill a bowl, making a hole with a pump drill, racing with hoops and sticks, sawing wood and other historically-inspired feats. Recommended for 10-50 guests.

It's a Mystery

Can your team work together to solve a mystery from history? See if the clues lead you to the ultimate solution of a crime that has occurred in Prairietown. This program may be scheduled after 5 pm.

Prairie Personalities

Exciting, humorous and unique residents of 1836 Prairietown, 1886 Liberty Corner or Lenape Indian Camp stop by and visit with your group. Personalities include but are not limited to:

  • Dr. or Mrs. Campbell
    Discusses “current” events—topics include medicine, land speculation or women’s issues
  • Phrenologist T.K. Triplett
    Check the bumps on your head to read your character
  • Ezra Higbee, Jasper Whetstone or Lucinda Barker
    Shares colorful, backwoods views on life in 1836
  • English Traveler, visitor to the Golden Eagle Inn
    Shares stories of journeys abroad
  • Trapper Duncan McKinnen
    Shares tales of the frontier and Native Americans
  • Storytellers
    Tells tales in the dark of night

Or let us tailor a program specific to your interests with additional personalities or topics. Personalities can even dine with your group or greet your guests when they arrive.

What Is It?

If you enjoy seeing the strange objects that cross the tables in the Antiques Roadshow, you'll have fun guessing what comes out of Conner Prairie's own collection. Join one of our curator's for a look at some of the more unusual artifacts. Can you guess what they are and how they are used?

Hayrides

Hop aboard for an old-fashioned tractor-drawn ride that seats 25-50 people at a time, with the length of each ride varying according to the number of guests.
400 for two hours per tractor after 5 pm
(two wagon maximum per tractor; 25 guests per wagon)

Admission to Conner Prairie

Make your event complete with admission for all of your guests to Conner Prairie's indoor exhibits and outdoor historic areas.

15-250 guests: 10.50 per adult, 7 per youth
251-500 guests: 9.50 per adult, 6 per youth
501-1,000 guests: 8.75 per adult, 5.50 per youth
1,001+ guests: 8.25 per adult, 5 per youth
